Put a License On It! | Sharing Our Open Educational Resources
Date: Friday, March 7, 2025
Time: 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Location: Library Building (LIB)
Join us for an interactive workshop where we will take educational resources used within the classroom and make them openly available for use and reuse.
In this session, we will discuss assigning open licenses, assigning metadata, and making your resources shareable in a variety of UBC and non-UBC repositories, databases, and indexes. By the end of the session, you will have shared a resource and have the knowledge to continue the process of making your resources openly available.
To participate in the session, we ask that you bring resources you have created to work on preparing for openly sharing. The resources can include: lesson plans, test and quiz banks, videos, audio, animations, class handouts, presentations, etc.
In advance: Bring a computing device to this event to ensure you can fully participate. Laptops are available to borrow from the Library Service Desk.
Gen AI and Open Educational Resources in Teaching & Learning
Date: Friday, March 7, 2025
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Location: Science Building (SCI)/ Online (Register for Zoom link)
Join us for an interactive workshop where we will explore the challenges, contradictions, and opportunities at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Open Educational Resources (OER).
In this session, we will discuss the potential of AI in generating dynamic content, including interactive textbooks, and its potential in developing open educational resources and practices. We will also engage in discussions about the legal and ethical considerations of both AI and open education including copyright, privacy, and open licensing. In this workshop we’ll dive into practical exercises, including the co-creation of a textbook chapter, demonstrating the real-world application of AI in OER.
This workshop is available both online and in person.
